The Hinkelmann/Hütter/Baumann team share a passion for classic motorsport. All three are particularly fond of Volvo cars. Gerd Hinkelmann, Head of Motorsport and Project Manager at HEICO Motor Sport (Wiesbaden), was given the task of building the 850 Turbo cars used for racing by Volvo Germany 25 years ago.
Bernd Hütter, former head of sport at Renault Germany, started working with Helmut Baumann in 1996 on construction of a Volvo Amazon P 122 S for use in classic races. The vehicle has been used successfully in sprint and endurance races ever since.
The drivers of the Volvo racing cars are amateur drivers, who have been active for decades in both historical and new motor sport. All the drivers are united by motorsport and a long friendship.
