The Hinkelmann/Hütter/Baumann team shares a passion for historic motorsport. All three are particularly taken with Volvo cars. Gerd Hinkelmann, Head of Motorsport and Project Manager at HEICO Motor Sport (Wiesbaden), was commissioned by Volvo Germany 25 years ago to prepare the 850 Turbo cars for racing.
Bernd Hütter, former head of motorsport at Renault Germany, began working with Helmut Baumann in 1996 to build a Volvo Amazon P 122 S for use in historic racing. The car continues to be successfully entered in sprint and endurance races to this day.
The drivers of the Volvo racing cars are amateur drivers who have been active in both historic and modern motor sport for decades. They are all united by their love of motor sport and a long-standing friendship.
